Rod and line fishing is also popular, as the depths of the lake harbour allow fish species likely to excite any real angler. Just imagine an enormous carp, pikeperch or catfish on the end of the line, which after a combat lasting perhaps an hour and a half is finally proudly lifted dry in a landing net. A real victory!

Fishspecies at the Lake Balaton: bream species ( Abramis sp.), carp, giant pike-perch (Lucioperca lucioperca), bream ( Aspius aspius), eel, cat-fish, razor-fish, stone pike-perch (Lucioperca volgense)

Documents needed for fishing:
– Passport or personal identity card
– State fishing card – valid for the whole year:with this permit, regional permits may be purchased in all areas of the country. The card is obtainable from the Anglers’Alliance, from angling associations, in fishing shops and at travel agencys
– Regional fishing card – valid for a given fishingterritory available on payment of a fixed fee for a specific period(day,month,year).
